Recommended Meat Barbecue Substitute

People nowadays are thinking about moderating meat consumption because their awareness of the health is increasing.

It said that eating less meat is a great start to be a healthy practice because it can reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and other illnesses.

However, according to a new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists, eating meat has play a big role in deforestation and can be deemed “ecologically inefficient.”

To get meats from animals requires large stretches of land, either to be the land to graze, or land to raise crop to feed the livestock. And in order to get that land, people requires to cutting down the trees to get larger land.

Sourced has estimated that 15% of the world’s global warming are cause by deforestation. It is getting worse because the increasement of meat production is increasing. The meat production is responsible for about 35% of the heat by deforestation.

People love meats, especially when they are holding a barbecue party that needs a lot of meats to be barbecued.

Some people said that barbecue without meat is worse, there’s nothing better than the smoky flavour, and the fresh meat on the grill when barbecuing.

Some of them are not aware that our earth is on danger, and still over consume the meats.

In that case, we have found a better and eco-friendly meat substitute, it is called jackfruit.

Chef Hari Nayak is the person who develop the jackfruit recipes. Through his book, Café Spice, he shares all of his recipes using the jackfruit.

Jackfruit is a tropical fruit that grows in South and Southeast Asia and it has high protein, potassium, fibre and even vitamin B and C that are great to our health.

Luckily, the jackfruit has a similar texture to pulled pork that makes it ideal for barbecue or pulled meat style. That is why, jackfruits has become popular as the meat substitute that you can try.
