Particle Pollution and Its Mitigation

96

Compared to ten years ago, most American cities are less polluted than they were. Yet, levels of particle pollution have remained largely unaffected – and remain high enough to cause troubles. Since particles are so incredibly small, they are easily inhaled and can make themselves at home right in your lungs. Not only can respiratory conditions be triggered or exacerbated, but your risk of heart disease, stroke and other serious cardiovascular problems rises as you breathe in these fine particulates.

Mitigating the Effects of Particle Pollution

Without a doubt, it is in everyone’s best interests to avoid particle pollution as much as possible. But what else can we do besides wearing a surgical style mask? Surprisingly, there are many small things we can do to minimise our exposure to particle pollution and reduce the problems associated with it.

  • Pay Attention to Ozone Action Days – On certain hot, sunny days, levels of particle pollution – and pollution generally – can rise to very dangerous levels outdoors. Although the indoor air quality of your home may not be perfect, on days like these it is best to keep indoors as much as possible.
  • Ban Smoking in Your Home – Tobacco smoke is a major cause of particle pollution, so ban it altogether inside your house, if possible.
  • Walk – Whenever possible, don’t ride. Studies have shown that riding in cars exposes us to more particle pollution than walking does. If you must drive, keep distance since most of the pollution we breathe while driving comes from the car ahead of us.

Use a HEPA Air Purifier – Out of all of these suggestions, this one is the most effective. Using a high quality HEPA air purifier help remove most of the air pollutants from your home. By using such an air purifier, you can dramatically improve your home’s indoor air quality, making it a safe place to stay indoors.

Smoke Cabin

Smoke Solution develops a set of efficient filtering system that can remove most of the airborne pollutants. There is an automatic motion sensor installed in each of the cabin and alternatively regulates the speed of the filtering system according to the movement inside the cabin. For their filters, Smoke Solution uses its own produced CO 2 neutral coconut charcoal. The harvest of the coconut shells is in a sustainable manner, without posing any harm to palm trees, animal habitats or the environment.

The ashtrays of the smoking cabins are fireproof and self-extinguishable. Lighted cigarette thrown into the ashtray will be extinguished and thus remove the risk of fire. Smoke cabins are modular and freestanding, they can be resized and relocated to fit in different locations, and follow the user patterns.
